A Fishing Moment
by Scott Harker
Fly floating downstream,
Dark shadows darting in the deeper pools.
The sun is high enough
Over the ridge to the East,
To touch the hands on the rod
And melt them back to warmth.
My mind is drifting, too,
With the sounds of the rushing water,
The pole jerks, a sudden strike,
I breathe and prepare for the fight.

THE PURSUIT OF FISH has been one of humankind's longest and most pleasurable tasks.
In the beginning, it was
all about food. Today, for most of us, it is just a chance to be outdoors - where we can take the opportunity to pit our wits
and skills against a cunning and all to often successful foe.
Of course, it is still great to cook and savor
one's catch of the day - and to tell fishing tales around a campfire or a dining room table.
On The Hook is a website dedicated to the the art and the science of fishing. The site has two purposes!
To provide you with the
best fishing supplies around with the best prices. And to inform you about fishing through various articles
about all types of fishing subjects.
